Hyde Hose Hog: A New Standard for Hydraulic Hose Cutting

If you regularly cut hydraulic hoses, you likely already know how demanding this application is. At Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions, solutions are our top priority, and we know that a touch of our application knowledge will change this process for so many.
This is where our Hyde Hose Hog™ hydraulic hose cut-off blades come into play. They are superior to original manufacturers’ blades for several important reasons, including the fact that they last up to 5 times as long as the competitors!
We also understand how important it is for you to pad your bottom line, so we keep our hose-cutting blades as competitively priced as possible. This means you get an edge that surpasses your competition at a price you can be happy about.
Our Hydraulic Hose Cutting Solution
We did our homework when designing our new hose cutting blades and knives. Hydraulic hose is one of the most indestructible materials you will ever encounter, and its ability to stand up to such tough conditions also makes it difficult to cut.
Hydraulic needs to be strong enough to handle the following elements:
- High fluid pressures
- Pressure cycling
- Repeated bending
- High temperatures
Not only can our hydraulic hose cut-off blades handle all of these applications, but they will also stay in tip-top shape for years to come.
Most hose cutoff machines will use an abrasive wheel to cut hydraulic hose. In this application, the wheel runs at high speed to grind or melt away the rubber and other soft materials on the hose and high-strength steel reinforcement wires.
Abrasive wheels generate heat, smoke, and debris which can contaminate the hydraulic systems. We have found that by using steel blades, we can create a much cleaner and more effective hose cutting process.
Our circular blade slices directly through the hose instead of cutting a path through it. This is much more appropriate because there is no leftover debris inside the hose.
Utilizing this steel cutting operation causes the hose to bend. As tension is applied, it will pull away from the blade throughout the cut. The bending action makes it easier to cut and keeps the ends of the hose from rubbing against the spinning blade. In the process, the hose will open up much faster without much pressure from the blade itself.
This application leads to a long-lasting blade because the hose doesn’t pinch it as it is doing its job. There is such little contact between the sides of the blade and the hose that there is no generation of smoke. With our new process, you end up with a clean and quality cut, faster than ever before!
The Wavy Scalloped Edge Difference
Hyde Hose Hog™ blades come with a wavy scalloped edge that offers a more aggressive cutting action. These types of knives are ideal for cutting a wide range of hoses, such as:
- Pneumatic
- PVC
- Hydraulic
- Thermoplastic
Another benefit to the wavy edge is that it requires far less pressure to cut, significantly reducing wear and tear and allowing the blade to stay sharper for longer. Hyde Hose Hog™ blades are also easily resharpenable and will outlast the competition.
A Blade Tough Enough for Hydraulic Hose Cutting
Our Hyde Hose Hog™ circular cut-off blades are tough! Tough enough to stand up to the rigors of cutting hydraulic hose and tough enough to save you money. We keep the most common specs in stock to ensure that you have the blades you need precisely when you need them.
Are you wondering what sets us apart from the rest? When crafting our hose cut-off blades, we use the best tool steel available. We take the time to heat treat our blades in a manner that resists wearing out while at the same time retaining their cutting-edge longevity.
If you have a specific application we do not carry, don’t hesitate to let us know! We love testing our skills with custom orders.
