Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions can grind and polish your cutting knives.
If you’re looking for someone to grind features into your parts, or to give your parts a high polish finish, stop right now. You can stop looking because you’ve found what you need.
You’ve found Hyde.
Hyde Custom Fabrication can grind and polish your parts. We have both the experience and the technology to get the job done, or to get the job “ground” and “polished.” After all, we’ve been grinding and polishing parts for more than 125 years.
As for our technology, it includes manually operated grinding wheels, overhead belt driven machines, and state-of-the-art 5-axis equipment.
We can grind and polish anything from small cutting knives used in workshops to stainless steel machine blades used in high-pressure, precision cutting situations.
Grinding
The process of grinding is basically a cutting process only on a much smaller scale. The grinding is done on a metal-working machine but instead of a straight blade, the “cutting” is done by an abrasive wheel.
Each grain on the abrasive wheel is a cutting edge that removes a tiny chip from the work part. Grinding is very effective at rapidly removing material and creating fine finishes.
Does your part have fine tolerances? Does it need to meet a specific dimension? Grinding enables us to meet your specific dimensions.
Another benefit of grinding is that it works on hard materials like stainless steel.
Polishing and Buffing
Polishing is smoothing out a work piece’s surface. Like grinding, polishing uses an abrasive wheel only the abrasive is glued to the wheel.
In the process of buffing, a loose abrasive is applied to a wheel. Buffing differs from polishing in that it offers the cutting knife a smoother, brighter finish.
Polishing and buffing are both grinding processes which means they are both cutting processes. In polishing and buffing, the cutting is done on an extremely small scale and the chips are extremely small.
Hyde IBS can give your tools a variety of finished edges. That includes beveled, scalloped, and toothed. We can also hone the blades of cutting knives.
To start the process of Hyde fabricating your part, and giving them the finish you need, send us the part or a drawing of the part. Be sure to tell us about the materials you want us to use and how many your need.
