Hyde Has Cornered the Straight Blade Market

When it comes to straight blades Hyde has cornered the market.

After all, it was natural for Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions to make straight blades. We took our experience and knowledge of hand knives, which we began making in 1875, and applied it to making straight blades.

Why straight blades?

We started making them because technology and industry demanded it.

The hand knife wielded by workers was no longer cutting it. Meanwhile, technology gave industrial machines the ability to cut, slice, trim, perorate, and crease with greater precision and accuracy than ever before.

These new machines needed blades and Hyde stepped up to make them. Hyde now makes straight blades for a plethora of industries including those related to food processing and papermaking.

Here’s a short list of materials cut by Hyde straight blades.

  • Abrasives
  • Bakery products
  • Foam
  • Fruits
  • Leather
  • Meat
  • Metals
  • Nuts
  • Paper
  • Plastic
  • Poultry
  • Rubber
  • Vegetables
  • Textiles

What about your straight blades? Do you need long ones or short ones? What type of steel?

Hyde can make blades as small as .5” inches wide or long. They can be as large as 20” wide or 36” long.

You also get to select the type of steel. We have a wide variety of steel in our inventory and it’s all ready to be made into straight blades for your industrial operations.

Perhaps you need more than just a well-made straight blade. Perhaps you need locating pins, slots, or notches.

That’s not an issue. Hyde can add one, all, or any combination of the aforementioned adornments. That means your straight blades will be ready to go to work as soon as you get them.

Edge Designs

Once we make the blade blank, you’ll be able to add any edge design you want. This means your knife will make the cuts, splices, perforations, and creases demanded by your industry.

Edge Design

When it comes to edge design, Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions offers a bunch of options.

  • Grooved
  • Serrated
  • Scalloped edge
  • Square edge
  • Single bevel
  • Double bevel

There’s actually more edge designs than that. Both the single and double bevel edge designs come in four types: blunt, sharp, compound angle sharp edge, and compound angle dull edge.

The nature of your industry doesn’t matter, nor does the material you’re cutting, because Hyde has the straight blade for you.
