Hyde has come a long way since our humble beginnings in 1875. We got our start producing hand knives for New England’s leather and textile industries. It wasn’t until 1906 that we crafted our first machine knife. Crazy enough, that very same first machine knife customer is still with us today! That is a relationship that has lasted well over a century.

We are 4^th generation privately owned with a strong vision for our future. These days, we continue to build meaningful and hardworking relationships with manufacturers across just about every industry that exists. We still provide cutting solutions, now we just do it on a much larger scale.

We perform our engineering and production inside our 250,000 square foot plant in Southbridge, Massachusetts. It is all carried out by our highly experienced team “in-house”, in accordance with our ISO 9001 registered quality system.

So now you know that we provide solutions for our customers, but how do we carry out such a relationship? Read on to find out:

We begin our process with the customer’s most troubling cutting-related issue. Our sales and engineering team work together to determine what would best solve that issue. As they discover various solutions, they consider ones that will improve operations, increase outputs, and provide reliable performance.
Our next step is to begin the blade manufacturing process in the press room, where blades are blanked. We utilize laser cutting, band sawing, and stamping to create all our blade blanks.
From there, the blanks are heat-treated. They are hardened and tempered to exact specifications. This will ensure that your brand new blades will offer the solutions you require.
Next, we run the blanks through a series of steps to impart the proper dimensions and bevels to your blade.
Finally, we apply custom edge configurations, which can include bevels, scallops, notches, toothing, and other unique designs. We do this to provide the most important part of the blade: the edge.

Once the blade is finished, we run it through a very strict and thorough Quality Control inspection, and then carefully package them and ship them so you get your top quality blade as quickly as possible.
