Straight Knives and Blades Used in Converting and Packaging Industries

Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions takes pride in the straight knives and circular blades it manufactures for the converting and packaging industries.

Both of these industries are constantly evolving and highly competitive. Businesses within these industries don’t have the time to turn off their machines so they can fix, sharpen, and/or replace straight knives and circular blades.

Thanks to our business partners over the years, Hyde IBS has gained the necessary experience and acquired a breadth of knowledge to successfully manufacture straight knives and circular blades that will last a long time and increase productivity.

Durable and efficient knives mean good things for your bottom line. If you’re in the converting or packaging industries, then you need Hyde straight knives and circular blades.

Converting

Paper Converting CollageWhat is converting? While it sounds odd, converting is crucial to many of the products we buy.

The converting industry takes bulk quantities of products and converts them into smaller products that can be sold to consumers.

The most common example of a product that needs converting is paper. Paper is not made in eight and half by eleven sheets. Instead, it’s converted or cut to that size.

Other materials besides paper that are often converted include films, foams, foils, plastics, rubber, silicone, and tapes. Before they can be sold, these materials need to be cut.

Here is a partial list of the blades Hyde manufactures for the converting industry:

  • Core cutters
  • Creaser blades
  • Crush cutters
  • Hand knives
  • Mill knives
  • Perforation wheels
  • Scoring blades
  • Sheater knives
  • Slitter blades
  • Trimmer knives

Packaging

Just about every product we buy comes in a package. That includes many of the products that are converted.

These products are packaged via processes like horizontal bagging, vertical bagging, shrink-wrapping, pouching, over-wrapping, automatic carton taping, and vacuum packing.

Most of the aforementioned processes, as well as most of the other ones we didn’t mention, use a blade of some sort to cut, slice, slit, chop, perforate, or crease packing material. For decades, the packaging industry has relied on Hyde for their straight blades and circular knives.

Here is a list of just some of the blades Hyde makes for the packaging industry:

  • Bagger knives
  • Case sealer knives
  • Cross-cut knives
  • Crush cutters
  • Flow-wrapper knives
  • Form-fill-seal knives
  • Gloucester blades
  • Perforators
  • Slicer knives
  • Tape knives
  • Tear-slot knives
  • Zig-zag knives

Straight knives and circular blades are crucial to both industries. Fortunately for both industries, Hyde knows the delicate balance between performance and durability. That’s why we make products that address both of those key qualities.
