Hyde makes industrial blades, but they can also meet your business’ fabrication needs. In fact, Hyde Industrial Blade Solutions makes custom tools, blades, and parts, and we do so through our Hyde Custom Fabrication department.
Below, we look at the four main fabrication services offered by Hyde. Peruse each one to see what’s right for your business.
Even if you don’t need any of the following services, make sure you contact Hyde. We’ll work with you to perform any operation you need.
Remember, Hyde is not only in the knife and blade business, we’re also in the solution business.
Laser cutting uses a high powered laser beam to cut materials. The laser either melts, burns, or vaporizes the material away, or the material is blown away via a jet of gas.
Laser cutting is ideal if you need a small batch of parts. It’s also ideal if your part is very intricate and/or your material is very difficult to cut.
Another advantage of laser cutting is your part goes untouched. In mechanical cutting, an industrial blade of some sort must make contact with the source material. That’s not so if your part is cut with a laser.

Blanking is the process of punching a work piece out of a large piece of material. The component process to blanking is piercing. That’s when a piece is removed from a part.
Think of it this way: blanking makes the doughnut, piercing makes the doughnut hole.
High speed blanking is perfect for when you need to produce a lot of parts and for when you want to produce them as cost-effectively as possible.

As the name suggests, heat treating is when metals are subjected to extremely high temperatures. The heat changes certain properties of a metal like toughness, hardness, or ductility.
Hyde uses three types of heat treating furnaces: atmosphere, vacuum and salt bath. These furnaces can meet your business’ needs when it comes to consistency, quantity, and flexibility.
One more thing, Hyde has been heat treating parts for more than 130 years. We know a thing or two about the process.

If your part needs grinding or a high polish finish, Hyde has you covered.
Grinding is basically cutting, only on a fine scale. Instead of a blade removing a lot of material, an abrasive wheel removes tiny bits.
Polishing and buffing are similar to the grinding process only not as aggressive. If you need high quality grinding or polishing for your industrial blades, look no further than Hyde Custom Fabrication.
