150 Years of Building Trust
Hyde has been America’s premier manufacturer of industrial blades and knives since 1875. Located in Southbridge, Massachusetts, we are a family-owned company that has stayed true to our foundations of quality craftsmanship and customization. Isaac P. Hyde established the company due to his engineering talents and the growing needs of New England’s leather and shoe industry.
We still operate from the original H-shaped building we constructed in 1917 to improve workflow and expansion capabilities. Now into our second century of service, Hyde continues to provide various industries with world-class industrial blades, knives, and tools.
As the country’s largest producer of industrial machine knives and paint accessory tools, Hyde has come a long way from its beginning as a one-man operation. However, the commitment to excellence established by our founder remains unchanged.
We still handle the entire process, from raw materials to finished blades and knives suited to each customer’s unique specifications. Our decades of manufacturing know-how and hands-on experience result in unparalleled quality that builds trust with every cut.
Just as Mr. Hyde earned a sterling reputation blade by blade in the 19th century, we carry on his legacy today. We stay true to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship our founder established. Every customized blade that leaves our factory represents a century and a half of manufacturing expertise and our ironclad commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Experienced Employees
The employees at Hyde are deeply invested in maintaining the company’s legacy of quality craftsmanship. Many of them have been with us for over 30 years, some spanning multiple generations of their families. Skills and knowledge are passed down from veteran knife makers to new hires, preserving traditions and values. This level of experience, loyalty, and expertise is almost unheard of today in the business world. However, it allows us to consistently deliver exceptional blades that uphold our sterling, century-old reputation for quality and high performance.
A Family Owned Company
For over 150 years and across five generations, the Hyde family has maintained and stewarded the company’s dedicated ownership and close-knit operations. Our close-knit team carries our ancestor Isaac P. Hyde’s legacy of personal investment in clients and premium American craftsmanship. We are proud to continually serve customers ranging from America’s earliest industrial pioneers to innovative manufacturers today.
One of the many reasons our customers love working with us is that we collaborate closely with them to solve their unique cutting challenges. For example, they can come to us with a technical issue, and we’ll deliver a quick solution that works flawlessly for their needs. They value the ability to speak with someone from America who can have drawings available within 24 hours and manufacturing in 30 to 48 days.
Made in the U.S.A.
We manufacture all of our industrial blades and cutting tools from start to finish in our massive 150,000-square-foot Southbridge, MA headquarters. We achieved ISO 9001 Certification in the 1990s and have successfully recertified every three years to maintain our high-quality control standards.
Each custom order undergoes careful in-house development as our expert technicians transform raw materials into specialized cutting implements tailored to exceed application requirements. Maintaining tight oversight across every production step enables us to deliver consistent quality and rapid fulfillment times.
